The Single Entry Tourist Visa – Everything you need to know!

The Single Entry Tourist Visa – Everything you need to know!

Since the Covid pandemic began, it has changed the way we travel and how we do it. Over the last few years Indonesia has closed and opened its borders multiple times and the most popular visa option during this time has been the Single-Entry Visa.

With the opening of the Visa on Arrival Scheme at the beginning of 2022, the need for the visa has lessened for many, however, it is still the most popular visa type for travellers entering Indonesia.

In this article, we break down what it is, how it works, who it is applicable to, and what are the benefits.

What is the Single-Entry Visa and how does it work?

The Single-Entry Visa is a visit visa, with a 60-day permit upon arrival, available for 2 times extensions with a 60-day stay permit for each extension. In total, the visa allows for a maximum stay in Indonesia of 180 days. To obtain this visa you are required to have sponsorship from a company in Indonesia, that has a business field of travel and tourism. The visa must be processed via the online registration system by the guarantor, presently, individual sponsorship is not available.

Can all nationalities apply for this visa?

Yes, this visa is applicable to all nationalities.

What are the types of Single-Entry visas?

There are three types of Single-Entry visas; b211a, b211b, and b211c. With the current visa situation, b211a is applicable for offshore applications and includes tourism and business meetings, emergency work, marine industrial, humanitarian, buying goods, and volunteering. Meanwhile, b211b is applicable for prospective foreign workers in the trial and audit or for business meetings. Lastly, b211c is applicable for filmmaker and journalistic noncommercial.

What is the Visa on Arrival and can I get that instead?

The Visa on Arrival or VOA is also a type of visit visa. What makes this visa different is that this visa will be given upon arrival with 30 days of stay permit, at the immigration counter in the airport. The visa cost around USD 35 and may be extended for an additional 30 days.

Update Visa on Arrival September 2024 – 2025

As of 2024, The Indonesian government has expanded its Visa on Arrival and e-visa program by including Armenia, Mozambique, and Tanzania and several more countries in the list of countries eligible for these travel options. This move aims to further promote tourism and facilitate entry into Indonesia for citizens of these nations. Travellers from the following countries can now conveniently obtain their visas upon arrival or through the online e-visa application system, making their visits to Indonesia smoother and more accessible.

If I could get a Visa on Arrival, why would I want to pay for a Single-Entry Visa?

There are a few reasons why one might choose the Single Entry Tourist Visa over the VOA, such as applying for other visa types onshore (The VOA does not permit the user to apply for other visas whilst in Indonesia), or you may want to spend longer than 60 days in Indonesia.

The VOA has a maximum stay of 60 days, after that, you would need to exit the country and come back in again.

What are the costs involved in getting a single-entry visa?

If you want to apply for this visa, you can pay the visa fee for tourism around IDR 3.2 million.

How long does it take to process this visa?

It takes approximately 7-14 working days to process the visa.
