Diaspora Visa (Repatriation KITAS) – Who is it for and what are the benefits

The Repatriation KITAS (Repatriation Visa) is a temporary stay permit that is intended for use for 1 very specific situation: For Indonesian citizens that have changed their citizenship to another nationality. 

Therefore, the main purpose of this visa is to regain Indonesian citizenship. 

It is a visa for repatriation and 1 year and can be extended annually for a maximum of 6 years. Repatriation KITAS holder can also obtain a KITAP (Repatriation Permanent Stay Permit) which has a validity of 5 years after having a KITAS for just one year. They can choose to extend the KITAS or obtain KITAP after a one-year KITAS. 

If the applicant would like to extend their KITAS, they may consider a Repatriation KITAP (Repatriation Permanent Stay Permit) which has a validity of 5 years. 

Steps to get your Diaspora Visa from Lets Move Indonesia

Offshore Visa Application

  1. Application of E-Vitas C318. This visa is used to enter Indonesia 
  1. Upon the arrival to Indonesia, the foreigner is required to drop the original passport to our office 
  1. Attend the Biometric and fingerprint session 
  1. E-vitas to KITAS conversion at the local directorate general of immigration office 
  1. KITAS completion with the E-Kitas along with Multiple entry re-entry permit 

Common questions about Repatriation Visa

Can I work in Indonesia with Diaspora visa?

This is a non-working visa, you may not work with this visa. However, to work in Indonesia with this visa, you can apply work permit without changing the status of the KITAS. 

Yes, all foreign passport holders who apply for a working permit must pay the DPKK fund 

Yes, as a foreigner holding KITAS you may sponsor other Indonesia visas for dependents, such as husband, wife or children up to 18 years old. 

Yes, you can gain your Indonesian citizenship after obtaining KITAP.

Document Requirements

  • Application letter 
  • Scan copy Passport valid for at least 12 (twelve) months 
  • Recent Colour photograph 
  • Curriculum Vitae 
  • Travel Itinerary (if any) 

Document that prove the foreigner has previously an Indonesian, as follows: 

  1. Previous Indonesian identity card (KTP)
  2. Previous Family card (Kartu Keluarga)
  3. Previous Birth Certificate (Akta Kelahiran)
  4. Indonesian Passport (Paspor Indonesia)
  5. Education certificate (Diploma/Bachelor) or Land Certificate in Indonesia

Statement of commitment that must be accomplished within a maximum of 90 (ninety) days after the date of entry into Indonesia, such as: 

  1. Purchase Indonesian government bonds with a value of US$50,000 (fifty thousand US Dollars);
  2. Purchase purchase shares of publicly listed companies in Indonesia with a value of US$50.000 (fifty thousand US Dollars), or
  3. Purchase mutual funds in Indonesian companies with a value of US$50.000 (fifty thousand US Dollars).
  • Username and Password Immigration system (Molina) 
  • Other required documents (if needed)
