Kenya & Rwanda Are Now Subjects to Visa on Arrival

After granting e VoA for Kazakhstan, Indonesia Immigration officially added Kenya and Rwanda to the list of countries subject to Visa on Arrival, on Monday, 27 February 2023. The announcement is stipulated through the Circular Letter of the Director General of Immigration Number IMI-0076.GR.01.01 Year 2023. With that, there are presently a total of 89 countries, the Government of the Special Administrative Region of a State, and certain specified entities that are subject to Indonesia’s Visa on Arrival.

At the beginning of 2023, Indonesia announced the addition of Kazakhstan as a subject to electronic Visa on Arrival, as well as Timor Leste to the list of Free Visa grantees. According to the immigration news, Visa on Arrival and electronic Visa on Arrival (e VoA) are valid until 90 days after the application. That means foreign nationals may choose to visit Indonesia right after they received their visa or much later, as long as it’s not exceeding 90 days.

About Indonesia Visa on Arrival

The visa on Arrival ( VoA ) is a scheme that helps simplify many nationals’ access to travel to Indonesia since the early quarter of 2022. As an alternative to Tourist Visa, Visa on Arrival can grant foreigners 30 days of stay and is mostly referred to be the easiest entry permit to apply for directly upon their arrival.

The visa provides foreign nationals with an initial 30-day visa to Indonesia. The visa is also extendable for 30 days, granting a maximum stay of 60 days within the country.

To apply for a VoA, you can ask the Immigration officer or straight look for the BRI counter (Official Bank of Indonesia) upon your arrival and make the payment for the visa application on the spot. We recommend you prepare IDR 500,000 IDR or USD 35 as the best option.

Visa on Arrival Extension

Do you want to stay longer in Indonesia with your Visa on Arrival? Initially, Indonesia Immigration provides another 30 days you can get after extending your VoA.

The fee charged for a foreign national to extend their Indonesia VoA is 500,000 IDR. Furthermore, applicants must visit the immigration office 3 times to perform several technical procedures before finally getting their visa extended.

Why use a visa agent to extend your Visa on Arrival

The application process to extend Visa on Arrival in Indonesia however, is not as convenient as its first application. The ever-changing immigration regulations in Indonesia complicate the visa application process. Therefore, using a visa agent is the best way to organise your visa extension in Indonesia.
