Indonesia Public Holidays & Collective Leave Days 2026: What Expats and Businesses Should Know

Indonesia has officially confirmed its list of public holidays and collective leave days for 2026, offering the clarity needed by businesses, expatriates, and the general public to plan ahead for travel, administration, and operations in the year ahead.

Key Highlights:

  • Indonesia has officially released the 2026 public holiday and collective leave calendar, giving businesses, expats, and the public a clear framework for planning the year ahead.
  • The 2026 calendar includes 17 public holidays and 8 collective leave days, designed to support efficient national planning and community activities.
  • With at least nine long weekends, domestic tourism demand is expected to surge, especially in Bali, Yogyakarta, Bandung, and Jakarta, prompting travelers to book early.
  • Companies must anticipate staffing adjustments, operational delays, and administrative closures by integrating these dates into their annual planning.
  • Public holidays will temporarily close key government offices—including Immigration and Tax—impacting visa processing, KITAS extensions, MERP issuance, and licensing.
  • Lets Move Indonesia supports expatriates and businesses in managing visas, company setup, and compliance, ensuring smooth processing even around peak holiday seasons.

The schedule was formalised through a Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB Tiga Menteri) signed by three key ministries: Minister of Religious Affairs (Nasaruddin) the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Rini), and the Minister of Manpower (Yassierli).

The decrees, numbered 1497/2025, 2/2025, and 5/2025, follow a high-level coordination meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (PMK) in Jakarta.

“For 2026, a total of 17 national public holidays have been set in accordance with prevailing laws. Through cross-ministerial discussions, we have also agreed on eight collective leave days,” said Coordinating Minister for PMK Pratikno.

The announcement is expected to ease operational planning for government agencies, private companies, and communities throughout Indonesia — especially during peak travel seasons.

What This Means for

The 2026 calendar creates at least nine long weekends, signalling higher travel volume across Indonesia. Key destinations, such as Bali, Yogyakarta, Bandung, and Jakarta, are expected to experience increased demand during holiday periods.

To minimise the risk of outstanding business in Indonesia, it is advised that foreign travellers should plan early, as airlines, hotels, and domestic transportation typically raise prices or reach peak occupancy during cuti bersama periods.

Implications for Businesses

For companies, these dates affect:

  • Staff scheduling and leave approvals
  • Project timelines and operational planning
  • Government-related processes, particularly around periods when offices close

Businesses with recurring deadlines, especially those involving compliance, payroll, or reporting, should incorporate these non-working days into their operational calendars to avoid disruptions.

Visa, Immigration & Legal Considerations

All government offices, including Immigration, Manpower offices, Notary services, and Tax offices, close during the designated holidays and collective leave days.

This affects:

  • Visa applications
  • KITAS processing & extensions
  • MERP issuance
  • Passport & document legalization
  • Company licensing timelines

Those managing time-sensitive visa or legal matters should avoid scheduling deadlines close to public holidays to prevent delays.

With visa queues often building up before and after long weekends, early planning is essential — especially for expatriates, foreign workers, and investors managing compliance or residency timelines.
