The Diaspora KITAS (Repatriation Visa) is a temporary visa for ex-WNI or former Indonesian citizens who have lost their citizenship to become citizens of another country.
This stay permit has a primary purpose to begin the process of regaining Indonesian citizenship. After entering Indonesia with a 1-year KITAS, they can renew it or apply for a KITAP (Permanent Stay Permit).
What You Can Do with the Visa Diaspora Indonesia

- Invest in real estate and buy a property in Indonesia
- Open a local bank account and access financial services in Indonesia.
- Travel in and out of Indonesia during the validity of the visa.
- Participate in family reunification or return to your country of heritage.
What You Cannot Do with Visa Diaspora Indonesia
- Engage in local employment without obtaining a proper work permit (IMTA).
- Sponsor other individuals for visas or permits.
- Operate a business directly without additional permits or registrations.
- Use the visa as a pathway to immediate permanent residency without meeting the requirements.
- Extend the visa beyond its allowable terms without proper authorisation.
Visa Validity
The validity of the Indonesia visa for repatriation is 1 year and is extendable annually for a maximum of 6 years.
Indonesia Visa for Foreigners to Start a Company in Indonesia
Indonesia offers streamlined visa pathways for foreign nationals looking to establish a business under a PT PMA (foreign-owned company). With investor-focused residency options, entrepreneurs can gain long-term stay rights while actively managing their investment in the local market.
Investor KITAS
The Investor KITAS is a temporary stay permit designed for foreign shareholders in an Indonesian PT PMA. It provides the right to reside and manage operations without a separate work permit (IMTA), accelerating the setup and compliance process for active investors. Minimum capital thresholds apply.
Investor KITAP
The Investor KITAP is a permanent stay permit granted to long-term foreign investors who have held an Investor KITAS for at least two consecutive years. It offers five-year renewable residency, allowing greater mobility, fewer reporting requirements, and long-term security for strategic investors in Indonesia.
Document Requirements
- Applicant must submit an application letter
- Scan copy Passport valid for at least 12 (twelve) months
- Recent Colour photograph
- Curriculum Vitae
- Travel Itinerary (if any)
Document that prove the foreigner has previously an Indonesian, as follows:
- Previous Indonesian identity card (KTP)
- Previous Family card (Kartu Keluarga)
- Previous Birth Certificate (Akta Kelahiran)
- Indonesian Passport (Paspor Indonesia)
- Education certificate (Diploma/Bachelor) or Land Certificate in Indonesia
Statement of commitment that must be accomplished within a maximum of 90 (ninety) days after the date of entry into Indonesia, such as:
- Purchase Indonesian government bonds with a value of US$50.000 (fifty thousand US Dollars)
- Purchase purchase shares of publicly listed companies in Indonesia with a value of US$50.000 (fifty thousand US Dollars), or
- Purchase mutual funds in Indonesian companies with a value of US$50.000 (fifty thousand US Dollars).
- Username and Password Immigration system (Molina)
- Other documents if required

Yes, you may obtain visas for dependents to stay in Indonesia, such as husband, wife or children up to 18 years old with Spouse or Dependent KITAS.
Can I obtain an Indonesian ID Card with this Visa?
Holders of long-term stay permits (KITAS/KITAP) may apply for a foreigner’s Indonesian ID card (e-KTP Orang Asing), subject to approval from local authorities.
After I have a Repatriation Visa KITAP, can I change citizenship?
Yes, you can gain your Indonesian citizenship after obtaining KITAP.
