The Single Entry Visa has changed, here is what you need to know!
In April 2022, Indonesian Immigration authorities released information advising that there would be changes to the Single Entry Visa and the extension processes effective immediately.
Previously, until this point, the Single Entry Visa came with a 60 day validity upon arrival and was then extendable for a further 30 days, 4 times, providing the visa holder with approximately 6 months worth of visa. However, in April 2022 Indonesian Authorities changed the visa structure, offering 2 Single Entry Options, a 60-day visa (non extendable) and a 180-day visa (non extendable).
The 180-day visa will be welcome news for foreigners who are planning to stay in Indonesia for up to 180 days, as you will no longer have to go to immigration offices for extensions, meaning you save a lot of time and hassle.

So, what are the new Single Entry options and why would you choose this visa type?
As of May (Authorities announced the changes in April but did not implement them until May 2022) there are 2 Single Entry Visa options:
60 Day Single Entry Visa (non extendable)
180 Day Single Entry Visa (no extendable)
The Single Entry Visa is a visa for nationalities that plan to visit Indonesia 1 time and either:
A: Plan to stay longer than 60 days
B: Are not on the nationalities list available to apply for Visa on Arrival (Check out the list below)
C: Want to spend time in Indonesia for business meetings/ market research, but don’t want the expense of a KITAS or have a sponsor.
D: Want to apply for a visa onshore (whilst in Indonesia)
Can you enter Indonesia using the Visa on Arrival scheme and then convert to another visa?
Presently, if you arrive using a Visa on Arrival, you can not apply for another visa type.
What if I already have a Single Entry Visa, can I still extend my visa?
In May Indonesian Immigration authorities shared the following information regarding extensions:
1: Single Entry Visitor Visa (Index B211A, B211B, B211C) issued before 16th April can only be granted a one-time extension of The Stay Permit with a maximum of 60 (sixty) days. The applicant must apply at The Immigration office and pay a Stay Permit fee of IDR 2,000,000.
2: Single Entry Visitor Visa (Index B211A, B211B, B211C) issued from 16th April (valid for a stay of 60 or 180 days) cannot be granted a Stay Permit extension.
3: Visa of Arrival can only be granted a one-time extension of the Stay Permit with a maximum of 30 (thirty) days. The applicant must apply at the immigration office and pay a Stay Permit fee of IDR 500,000.
Please note that whilst these visas are great, authorities decided that despite Indonesia not welcoming tourists for 2 years, now would be the perfect time to increase visa fees, upping the cost for the 60-day visa to 2,000,000 IDR and the 180-day visa to 6,000,000 IDR, more than a 100% increase compared to previously. This cost is fixed and looks like it will be around to stay.
