On Sunday 28^th November, 2 highly important notifications were announced in regards to Indonesia quarantine, as well as the temporary ban of 11 nationalities. Check out all the updates below:

Quarantine in Indonesia raised to 7 days effective Monday 29th November

In an announcement on Sunday 28^th November by Luhut Binsar Pandaitan The Minister Maritime Affairs, it was announced that the quarantine period would be raised from the current 3 days to 7 days effective immediately in relation to the new Omicron Covid variant.

Indonesia has seen a consistently low number of cases over the last month and concerns are that this new variant may sweep the country, therefore drastic measure have been put in place to ensure the new variant doesn’t make it to Indonesian territories.  

Upon arrival, travellers must take a PCR test and will be required to take a second before exiting quarantine.  

Additionally, 11 nationalities have been temporarily banned for 14 days from entering Indonesia, these countries include: South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Mozambique, Eswatini, Malawi, Angola, Zambia and Hong Kong. For visa applicants from these nations, visa processes are suspended.

Additionally, travellers (different nationalities) from any of the above countries, will be subject to 14 days quarantine as well.

Indonesia authorities temporarily ban 11 nationalities from entering Indonesia

On 27^th November, a circular was released by The Directorate General of Immigration, circular number IMI-0269.GR.01.01 TAHUN 2021, which advised a travel ban for 8 nationalities.

Shortly after releasing this news, the Directorate General of Immigration issued a revised circular number IMI-0270.GR.01.01 TAHUN 2021 on the 28^th of November, concerning a temporary ban for 11 countries, which includes; South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Angola and Hong Kong.

Please note, the first list included Nigeria, however, the revised list does not. Nigerian nationals may still enter Indonesia.

According to the new circular, foreigners who have resided and/or visited; South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Angola and Hong Kong are temporarily banned from entering Indonesian territories. Additionally, for citizens of these nationalities, visa process are suspended.
