While Ed Sheeran may have grabbed the headlines, he was not the first artist to benefit from the recently introduced type of entertainment visa.

Coldplay and K-pop giants TWICE were among the early adopters of this visa, which streamlines the entry process for musicians and their crews. This simplified system makes it easier for international talents to perform in Indonesia, fostering a more vibrant and diverse music scene.

But what is exactly the Music Performer Visa, and how would it benefit the international performers making their entry to the country? This article, LetsMoveIndonesia breaks down everything you need to know about the new Indonesia visa.

What is the Music Performer Visa?

The Entertainment Visa, officially known as the Music Performer Visa, is a welcome change for artists and event organizers. This visa falls under the index of C7, categorised into two different categories – index C7A and C7B.

This visa caters specifically to foreign artists and arts professionals visiting Indonesia for professional engagements.  It simplifies the application process compared to previous visa types.

Types of Music Performer Visas

The Music Performer Visa falls under three categories (C7, C7A, and C7B).  The specific visa type required depends on your role (artist, crew member, etc.)

C7A (for Music Performers): This visa is specifically designed for musicians and lead performers. It allows them to enter Indonesia for the purpose of engaging in authorised music and entertainment events (solo concerts, festivals, etc)

C7B (for Music Performers’ Crews): This visa is intended for supporting crew members who are essential to the performance, such as sound technicians, lighting technicians, and stage managers. It allows them to enter Indonesia to assist the lead performers in their artistic endeavours.

Who Can Apply for a Music Performer Visa?

Indonesia’s Music Performer Visa is designed for foreign artists and performers who wish to enter the country and participate in music and art events. The following subjects are the ones eligible to use the Music Performer Visa:

Musicians, including singers, instrumentalists, bands, DJs, and other musical performers. Performance Artists, such as visual artists (painters, sculptors, etc.), performing artists (dancers, actors, etc.), and other creative professionals participating in exhibitions or performances.

The application for the Music Performer Visa is typically submitted by the event organizer or promoter in Indonesia on behalf of the foreign artists. Furthermore, the artist may need to provide supporting documents such as a performance contract, invitation letter, and portfolio/demo reel showcasing their work.

Visa requirements and procedures can change, so it’s always best to consult with the official Indonesian immigration authorities or a reliable visa consultant for the latest information and specific requirements for your situation.

How Long Can I Stay With This Visa?

The Music Performer Visa allows its holder to enter, stay, and conduct activities in Indonesia for about 60 days of validity and is extendable for two times.

Requirements for a Music Performer Visa?

The Entertainment Visa streamlines the application process by removing the need for documents like Indonesian insurance receipts and return tickets, previously required for visa applications.
