Bali Business: License for Selling Alcohol in Bali

If you are planning on operating a business in Bali that sells or brews alcoholic beverages then you are required to obtain an alcohol license.

Who is eligible to open an alcohol business in Bali?

Essentially, any individuals may sell or brew alcohol in Bali, as long as they register their legal entity and obtain an alcohol license. Please note that when registering your business you must select business classification 56301 KBLI (A Bar license) or 56302 (Nightclub).  

Should I register a company if I want to distribute/sell alcohol in Bali?

 If you plan to sell or distribute alcohol either by a store or third-party vendors, you will need to select the following business classifications when registering your company: 46333 Alcohol distribution & 47221 Alcohol seller/shop

 What is an alcohol policy in Indonesia?

 The alcohol policy in Indonesia regulates Alcohol distribution, which classifies the same consumption of alcohol into 3 classifications:

  1. A: Alcohol content of 1-5%
  2. B: Alcohol content of 5-20%
  3. C: Alcohol content of 20-45%

When registering the business classification, you need to pay attention to which class of alcohol products you intend to sell. E.g. If you register for Class A, you may not sell Class C. 

 What license do I need to open a bar in Bali?

 To open a bar, you need an alcohol license and a bar license, as mentioned previously, the bar business classification is 56301 KBLI.
